Greenfield High School qualified for the WMass Division II Field Hockey Tournament by throttling Palmer High School, 9-0, in an independent game Tuesday in Greenfield.

Raegan Hickey had three goals and two assists for the Green Wave (10-0-1), which qualified for the third straight season but did not wait until the final games of the year to do so.

“The girls are really excited to clinch the berth,” Greenfield coach Erin Thayer said. “The past few years we also qualified, but we struggled to do it and had to wait for the last few games. Now, we can focus on other things.”

Greenfield led 5-0 at the half. Audrey Bresciano and Katie Haselton each scored twice and had one assist, while Olivia Joy finished with one goal and one assist. Amanda Elwell scored once, and Grace Kennedy had one assist.

Sam Smith stopped one shot to earn the shutout.

Greenfield travels to West Springfield High School Thurdsay.

Mahar 4, FC Tech 0 — Joslyn O’Brien scored once in each half and Mahar Regional School defeated Franklin County Technical School, 4-0, in an independent field hockey game Tuesday in Orange.

O’Brien scored off a rebound 10 minutes into the first half for the Senators (4-6-0), the only goal of the first half. The senior captain opened the scoring eight minutes into the second half on an assist from Kadie Jillson. One minute later, Jillson made it 3-0 on an assist from Anna Weatherbee. Rachel Latwis finished the scoring with under four minutes left as Weaterbee picked up her second helper of the day.

Mahar outshot the Eagles (1-8-0), 25-1, and Hannah Birch stopped her only shot of the day to earn the shutout. Kailynn Mason-Emond made 21 saves in the loss.

Northampton 1, Mohawk 0 — Mohawk Trail Regional High School gave Northampton High School everything it could handle before the Blue Devils were able to eke out a 1-0 independent field hockey victory Tuesday in Buckland.

Hamp’s Anna Kerwood scored the game’s only goal when she converted a pass from Megan McCarthy with 13:46 left in the first half.

The Blue Devils (6-2-2) held a slim 5-4 edge in corners, while Mohawk had 12-1 advantage in corners.

Hamp’s Danielle Parent and Moahwk’s Eloise Perrea each made 4 saves in net.

“We’re making a lot of progress,” said Moawk coach Alina Schmidt. “We just need to capitalize on our opportunities.”

Mohawk travels to Palmer Thursday at 4 p.m.

Pioneer 11, Central 0 — Jess Scoville and Jennie Fuller combined for 12 points Tuesday as Pioneer Valley Regional School whitewashed Central High School, 11-0, in independent field hockey play in Springfield.

Scoville fired home five goals and added an assist, while Fuller collected four goals and two assists for the Panthers (5-3-1, 4-1-1). Alexus Vergobbe and McKayla Glazier also scored, and Olivia Rowe chipped in two assists.

Pioneer held a big edge in shots (28-0) and corners (16-1). Steph Scoville recorded the shutout without needing to make a save.

Pioneer hosts East Longmeadow High School Thursday at 4 p.m.
