Kyle Nitzsche logged his third consecutive shutout of the season to help the Academy at Charlemont to a 6-0 win over Buxton School in River Valley Athletic League boys’ soccer play Wednesday.
Aiden Brenizer and Tucker Zakon-Anderson each had two goals in the win, while Sam Zakon-Anderson and Nat Boyd Owens chipped in one goal apiece. Henry Walker-West led an impressive defensive effort for the Aardvarks.
Charlemont girls’ win
Ruby Chase scored a pair of goals on Wednesday and the Academy at Charlemont knocked off Buxton, 5-2, in a RVAL girls’ soccer match in Charlemont.
Ella Deters had one goal and one assist in the win, and Saraphina Forman added a goal. Emily Comeaux played well defensively.
Timmons League
Doug Farrick and Brad Stafford shot a 35 to win low gross during the Timmons League at the Northfield Golf Course on Wednesday.
Dave Phillips and Ed Terault won low net with a 27. Ray Kendrick was closest to the pin on No. 6 at 18 feet, 7 inches, while Norm LaCoy was closest on No. 7 at 17-7. Farrick was the match medalist with a 36, while Terault, Rick Stempel and Scott Powers were next with a 39.
Healy scores for Stonehill
Shea Healy scored a second-half goal to lead fifth-ranked Stonehill College to a 2-0 win over Southern New Hampshire in a Northeast-10 Conference field hockey game Tuesday in Easton.
The Greenfield native and Pioneer Valley Regional School graduate’s goal helped Stonehill improve to 6-2.

Taft School defeated Deerfield Academy, 5-1, in a boys’ prep soccer match Wednesday in Watertown, Conn.
• In girls’ action, Worcester Academy blanked Deerfield, 7-0, Wednesday in Worcester.
Water polo
Suffield Academy scored in overtime to get past Deerfield, 18-17, in a boys’ prep water polo match Wednesday in Suffield, Conn.
Volleyball
Loomis Chaffee School defeated Deerfield, 3-0, in a girls’ prep volleyball match Wednesday in Deerfield.
DRIVE Boys’ Varsity
Kevin Mendez had 19 points Sunday to lead Greenfield to a 59-39 win over Smith Voke in a DRIVE Boys’ Varsity Basketball League game at Pioneer Valley Regional School in Northfield.
Drew Brida had 13 points in the loss.
• Elsewhere, Tucker Llewelyn finished with 16 points and Brendan Emond added 13 points to lead Whitney Fence to a 66-28 win over the Warriors.
Torsten Sloan-Anderson led Warriors with 13 points.
• Also, Eli Lombardi’s 22 points helped Brattleboro to a 47-33 win over Frontier.

• In other action, Jon Morrison netted 17 points and Hadley edged Hampshire, 52-51.

DRIVE Girls’ Varsity
Logan Anderson scored 11 points and the Panthers topped Monadnock, 41-26, in a DRIVE Hoops Girls’ Varsity Basketball League game Sunday at Stoneleigh-Burnham School in Greenfield.
Kristen Samuel led Monadnock with 8 points.
• In other action, Gabby Carpenter scored 9 points as Brattleboro clipped Hinsdale, 33-27.
Skylar Leclair led all scorers with 18 points in the loss.
• Finally, Ella Jarvis scored 12 points and VT Academy knocked off Keene, 45-25.

Liam Curtis netted 10 points Sunday and Bernardston beat FC United, 41-26, in a DRIVE Hoops Boys’ Middle School Basketball League game Sunday in Northfield.

PV pole vault school
The Pioneer Valley Pole Vault School in Bernardston is open by appointment for individual and group lessons through the fall with negotiable rates.
Lessons will be taught by Pioneer Valley Regional School track and Northfield Mount Hermon pole-vault coach Jim Bell, himself a Masters pole vaulter.
