GREENFIELD — A Vermont man was arrested on a charge of heroin trafficking in Greenfield after a motor vehicle stop early Wednesday morning, according to a news release from the state police.
Michael McFarland, 32, of West Charleston, Vt., was arrested at 12:20 a.m. following a motor vehicle stop on Interstate 91 north in Greenfield. He was charged with heroin trafficking, possession of ammunition without a Firearms Identification card and speeding.
According to the release, Trooper Jesse Gadarowski was patrolling I-91 when he saw a Honda Civic traveling at a speed greater than the posted limit. After stopping the vehicle, an investigation ensued and troopers located approximately 24 to 40 grams of a substance believed to be heroin inside the vehicle.
McFarland was transported to the state police barracks in Shelburne Falls and held pending his arraignment in Greenfield District Court on Wednesday.
