A recent letter to the editor decried the lack of care of the Silver Lake Cemetery. While I understand the writer’s wanting her plot to be taken care of, I wonder if she knows that many of the employees of the Public Works were furloughed and only recently have started back to work. I have heard that some workers volunteered their time in order to try to keep up with the maintenance of the cemetery in time for Memorial Day.
As a regular walker in the cemetery, I am aware of the care provided and the pride the employees have in keeping the cemetery beautiful.
These times ask us to be a little forgiving of others who might not be able, through no fault of their own, to live up to our expectations.
