The Greenfield Tennis Association is hosting its final event of the season, the annual Fall Classic, taking place on Saturday and Sunday at the Highland Clay Courts.
The tournament is both men and women and there is a consolation tournament, with each team guaranteed two matches. Each match is a best of three sets.
All participants are expected to arrive by 9:30 a.m. with matches to begin at 10 a.m. You must sign up by 5 p.m. on Friday by calling Harry Bovio at 413-369-4121. The entrance fee is $5 for GTA members and $10 for non-members, with every team bringing a new can of tennis balls. Snacks and water will be provided. A prize will be awarded to each member of the winning team of the main draw as well as the runners-up.
Taylor’s Tavern 14, Sirum 7 – Jake Field had a 70-yard touchdown reception in the second half that gave Taylor’s Tavern the win over Sirum on Sunday.
The win put Taylor’s Tavern into first place after week five.
Nick Aldrich connected with Jaylen Sanders for a touchdown in the first half for Taylor’s Tavern.
Parker Hickey had a touchdown pass to Chris Hart for Sirum.
Hubie’s Tavern 16, Wormtown Trading 2 – Cody Underwood and Jeremy Benz grabbed touchdown receptions in the win for Hubies’s Tavern.
Pat Vinciek tossed the touchdown throws for Hubie’s. Underwood’s touchdown capped an 8-play drive to give Hubie’s an 8-2 lead going into intermission.
Cerious Le Moss led the way on defense, recording three sacks including a safety for Wormtown’s only points.
Travel Kuz 32, Frosty’s Raiders 0 – Malcolm Smith rushed for three touchdowns, and threw for two more in the blowout win for Travel Kuz (3-2).
Smith took off running from the quarterback position with touchdowns runs of six, four and three yards out while connecting with Adam Bastarache and Abe Klein on the throwing scores.
Justin Fox had two interceptions for the Travel Kuz defense.
