GREENFIELD — One car left Interstate 91 and crashed into the woods, leaving the four people inside with minor injuries Monday evening.
The four occupants refused medical treatment, but were bandaged as needed at the scene by EMTs. A tan pit bull mix was reported to be injured and missing from the scene.
The black Nissan hatchback with New Jersey plates rested between trees with a crumpled hood after it left the southbound lane north of Exit 27. It is uncertain at this time what caused the crash.
The four occupants, two male and two female, stood on the side of the highway, embracing and talking with state police. One of the male passengers had several scrapes and cuts on his leg, shoulder and head.
Bernardston and Greenfield fire officials responded, as well as a Greenfield ambulance and Massachusetts State Police. Traffic on the highway was minimally affected by the crash.
