Kaitlin Lavoine had three hits, including a double and Pipione’s Sport Shop defeated Conte Office Interiors, 12-2, in a Greenfield Girls’ Softball League game at Murphy Park in Greenfield.
Gillian Hopkins had a pair of hits in the win, and Renee Reed scored a pair of runs. Margarette Howland struck out three in two innings to earn the win, and Kaela Hawkins struck out four in relief.
Ainslee Flynn and Caroline Crocker each had a hit in the loss, and Kameryn Dearborn struck out a pair.
Tai Chi event
The fifth annual Tai Chi and Chai Tea event will take place at the Senior Center/Masonic Building in Shelburne Falls Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon.
The event corresponds with World Tai Chi Day and is a fun-filled event for anyone who enjoys tai chi, the tai chi curious, and for folks looking for something different to do on a Saturday. Deborah Yaffee, the senior trainer with the Tai Chi for Health Institute, and chef Marty Yaffee of “The Little Cooking School” will teach about tai chi, and the benefits it has towards health and well-being, as well as exercises. There will also be chai tea and other treats.

Dawn Jenner fired a low gross 44 to win the A Division of the Monday Night Ladies League at the Country Club of Greenfield.
Dale Allis won low net in the division with a 34. Lori Grover won low gross in the B Division with a 46, while Irene McDonald won low net with a 36. Nancy Conant won low gross in the C Division with a 52, and Lynn Currier won low net with a 35.
Mark K Memorial Mixed
Al Holmes, Dal Malloy, Fritz Pike and Rod Roberge combined for a low net of 62 for top honors Monday in the Mark K Memorial Mixed Golf League at Oak Ridge Golf Club in Gill.
Joe Smith, Bob LaCoy, Bob Bassett and Tamme Smith were second at 63.
Tigers at States
Grayson Bowse, Karma Phillips and Grace Fisher each won championships as the Greenfield Tumbling Tigers competed in the 2016 Dual State Mass./N.H. Gymnastics Championships over the weekend in Westfield.
Over 500 competitors from more than 13 teams competed at the event and three locals took home gold.
Fisher was the all-around champion in the Level 3 Junior A Division with a score of 36.725. Fisher was the state champion on the vault (9.6) and the beam (8.85), and also placed second on the bars (9.1) and the floor (9.175). The Level 3 team finished sixth overall with a score of 108.75. Julie Perez was seventh on the bars and ninth on the beam in the Junior B Division, and Tatum Morse was second on the vault (9.675) and 10th on the beam. Layla Fisher was fourth on the bars (9.0), ninth on the vault and 10th all-around in the Child A Division, while Lindsey Taylor was sixth on the vault. Kiarah Pinkham was eighth on both the vault and floor in the Child B Division.
Bowse won the state title on the bar and beam in the Xcel Silver, Junior Division. Bowse won the bars with a score of 9.35, and the beam with a 9.4. She also placed second on the vault (9.325), second all-around (37.125) and sixth on the floor for the team, which took fourth place with a score of 106.50. Aneesa Brewer was eighth on the floor, and Rowan Kehrer was 10th on the bars.
Phillips is the state bar champion in the Xcel Gold/Senior Division with a 9.175, and also placed fourth on the beam. In the Xcel Platinum Division, Emily Keyes was third on the beam (8.825), bars (9.275) and all-around (35.6) and fourth on the vault.
The Level 6 team placed fourth with a score of 100.85 as Sydney Unaitis placed fourth on the beam and all-around in the Senior Division, and sixth on the vault. IN the Junior Division, Allyson Unaitis was fifth on the floor, sixth on the vault and seventh on bars, while Kendall Fox was fifth on the vault.
Hannah Phillips was seventh on the floor and eighth on the vault in the Level 4, Child A Division, while Lanie Bowse was third on the beam (8.6) in the Junior Division. In Level 7, Kathryn Mason was fourth on the bars and floor, sixth all-around and seventh on the beam, while Zenani Himlin-Mayekiso was sixth on the floor, eighth on the vault and ninth on bars. At Level 9, Nora Roscoe was fourth on the beam, and Kayla Hamer was fourth on the floor, and at Level 2, in the Child Division, Umi Burns was second on the vault (9.375).
FMC Ice Sports takes third
The FMC Ice Sports team of 12 figure skaters captured 33 medals at the 35th annual Nashoba Valley ISI Team Competition Saturday in Boxborough.
As a team, FMC Ice Sports finished third overall.
Amelia Bouchard, Avianna Bouchard and Shannon Terry-Nugent of Greenfield joined Ella Dubin of Northfield, Brigit Ferry of Deerfield, Maggie Provencal of Colrain, Mia Snedecker of Gill, Giorgia Santore of Sunderland and Ruth Morse of Hadley as the skaters from Massachusetts, while Rose Dumaine of Jacksonville, Vt., Sage Kamptitsis of Brattleboro Vt., and Marina McMahon of Peterborough, N.H. also skate out of Greenfield.
The team won 24 gold medals, eight silver medals and a bronze medal competing in a variety of events.
