SHELBURNE FALLS — “Under the Microscope” is the first offering of six weeks of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) programs at Arms Library.
The programs are for all ages, 6 years old and up. It will explore the unseen world; learn how to use a microscope, collect and create slides, and prepare samples for use later in the summer.
The group will meet in a Summer Science Lab in the basement of the library every Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m., beginning Wednesday. Following weeks will include such activities as: solving a library mystery using the microscope and hidden clues; planets, art, our solar system and the Bridge of Flowers Road Race; engineering and art and making things fly; building a simple robot; and science and art.
All programs are free and will run through Aug. 30. Also, as part of “Science Summer at The Arms,” a viewing of the Aug. 21 solar eclipse from the library steps (and with protective eye shields) is planned. Information: 413-625-0306, Facebook, or www.armslibrary.org
