NORTHFIELD — As the end of the fiscal year approaches, the Selectboard hopes to find a permanent town administrator.
Since Jan. 1, the position has been held by Interim Town Administrator Paul Boushell. Boushell was appointed by the Selectboard with the understanding that he would continue until the end of the fiscal year, June 30, following the resignation of former Town Administrator Brian Noble.
The town posted on its website last week that the Selectboard is seeking to fill the position permanently, and during a meeting Tuesday, the board discussed forming a committee to find a permanent town administrator. The committee would include representatives from various town departments, with Selectwoman Tracy Rogers volunteering to represent the Selectboard.
Boushell said he plans to be one of the applicants for the permanent position.
“I like Northfield very much,” he said simply.
Formerly of Ashland, Boushell acted as town administrator in Tyngsborough for eight years and interim town administrator in Ashburnham. Before coming to Northfield, he operated a municipal consulting business.
According to the town website, the ideal candidate would hold a master’s degree in public administration or a related field, have five years administrative experience in financial and project management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The position’s salary would be between $82,000 and $92,000 a year.
Applicant screening will begin April 30, the website states.
