TURNERS FALLS — The Gill-Montague Regional School Committee will explore the criteria for a new Turners Falls High School mascot at its next meeting after the board decided to postpone the discussion Tuesday night.
The School Committee had drafted criteria last week and intended to present and discuss them Tuesday night. But because the criteria were not included in the agenda packet, the board decided to move the discussion to next week. In the mean time, the School Committee will continue to solicit feedback from the public.
At the meeting on April 25, the board will edit and finalize the criteria and then continue with further steps, such as developing who will play what roles in selecting the mascot and developing a selection process.
In February, the School Committee voted 6-3 to change the Turners Falls High School mascot from the Indians.
