Writers’ lunch: Monday through Thursday, anytime from noon to 2 p.m., bring your laptop or notebook and lunch to the LeVanway Meeting Room for self-directed writing time.
Open for Business: Mondays and Fridays from 2 to 5 p.m., telecommuters and local business people looking for reliable Wi-Fi and a quiet workspace are invited to use the library’s LeVanway Meeting Room.
Reading Relay Read Aloud Storytime: Each week, this program for all ages will feature a new theme with puppets, felt board stories and short plays, during an hour when everyone reads. Come and listen or take part in the reading. Suggested for readers elementary age and above and, of course, younger listeners!
Mother Goose on the Loose: Tuesdays and Fridays from 10 to 11 a.m., join Kay Lyons at a lap-sit story hour for children age 3 and under, with a grown-up. Kay reads books, leads the group in hand rhymes, and uses puppets to teach animal sounds and other concepts new to the very young. Each session is 45 minutes, with half an hour of structured activity and about fifteen minutes of visiting time.
Young Writers Group: Author and teacher Nell Wright works with young writers ages, 10-14 on Wednesdays from 4 to 5 p.m. The group is limited to 8 participants and registration is required. Call 413-772-1544 ext. 5 for more information.
First Wednesday Speaker Series: Danielle Beaudette of the Cozy Tea Cart in Brookline, N.H., a certified Tea Specialist, will present The Basics of Tea. She will discuss a variety of teas from around the world and tell how they are produced. She will also note the differences between tea and herbal blends (tisanes). Three types of tea will be available for tasting. This program begins at 6 p.m.
Chess Club: Every Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:45 p.m., come to the library to play chess. The last Wednesday of each month will feature a speed chess tournament. Contact: calderrossi@gmail.com.
Writers’ Lunch Workshop: On Fridays from noon to 2 p.m., Jane Buchanan and Joannah Whitney offer a workshop which includes writing exercises and discussion as well as an opportunity to share what has been written. Participants are encouraged to attend the open writing periods during the week as well. There is no charge for the workshop and registration is not required.
