COLRAIN — The annual “Crafts of Colrain” self-guided arts tour is a little like a treasure hunt, in which you scout for artists in beautiful, hidden places.
This year, 16 Colrain artisans are opening their rural studios to visitors Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Part of the fun is the countryside, opened up, now that most of the foliage is gone. But the other joy is that of finding beautiful things in “undiscovered” places.
Look for Crafts of Colrain brochures with maps and information about the artists’ studios, which are available in local partnering shops, restaurants and visitor centers. Or go online to:
www.craftsofcolrain.com/
The featured artists make everything from fine furniture to hand-spun woven and knitted items to craft beer with all-local ingredients.
Pastel paintings, hand-forged iron accessories, calligraphic art, hand-dyed yarns, pottery, cabinetry, baskets and rugs are among the items made and sold by their makers.
Many of the artists will be demonstrating their crafts along the way.
On Saturday, the tour includes a stop at the Colrain Central School, where the PTO will host a Colrain Craft Fair and luncheon, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
