WARWICK — After 18 years of service, Deputy Fire Chief Joe Paul has retired, effective June 1.
Paul will be succeeded by Capt. Mike Mankowsky, who has been a member of the Warwick Fire Department for 22 years.
NORTHFIELD — The Selectboard has appointed Dan Gray to the Board of Health. Gray previously served on the board, and is appointed until the 2022 election.
NORTHFIELD — Elizabeth Sweeney of Northfield earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine on May 29, and also received the Award for Distinguished Public Sociology during the college’s Honors Day on May 14.
WARWICK — The Warwick Free Public Library will host Massachusetts author Yasmin Azad via Zoom on Tuesday, June 8, at 7 p.m. Azad will read from her recently published coming-of-age memoir, “Stay, Daughter: A Memoir of Muslim Girlhood.”
Azad was born and raised in Sri Lanka, where she received a degree in English before moving to the United States. She recently retired after many years as a mental health counselor.
