Massachusetts Building Trades Unions endorses Markey
The Massachusetts Building Trades Unions has endorsed U.S. Sen. Ed Markey for reelection, citing his record of securing federal infrastructure investments and creating good-paying union jobs across the state.
“Sen. Ed Markey is a fighter for working-class people who doesn’t just talk about supporting unions — he delivers,” Frank Callahan, president of the Massachusetts Building Trades Unions, said in a statement. “He helped bring Vineyard Wind 1 to Massachusetts, which was built under a project labor agreement that put union members to work. He also helped secure federal funding for the $1.2 billion North Station drawbridge project our tradesmen and women are excited to work on. Sen. Markey knows that investing in Massachusetts means investing in the workers who build it.”
The Massachusetts Building Trades Unions represents more than 75,000 union workers across 62 affiliated local unions.

“The men and women of the Massachusetts Building Trades Unions build our commonwealth every day — from the bridges we cross to the clean energy projects powering our future,” Markey said in a statement. “I could not be prouder to earn the endorsement of these skilled union workers. There is power in a union — better wages, stronger benefits and a voice on the job. I will always stand shoulder to shoulder with the building trades and continue to fight for working families every single day in the Senate.”
The Massachusetts Building Trades Unions’ endorsement builds on previous endorsements from the North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters, IBEW Local 103, the Massachusetts & Northern New England Laborers’ District Council, IUPAT District Council 35, Roofers Local 33 and IUEC Local 4.
