As a follow-up to Eveline MacDougall’s article last Friday on Alice Thompson and our Heath senior meals, I’d like to express my gratitude to those who make this special Council on Aging program possible.

LifePath awarded the Heath COA with a generous grant to pay our chef for the creation of these delicious senior meals, used in combination with voluntary donations. They were able to renew this grant for the coming year. Thank you, LifePath!

We have stellar volunteers in our community including our five Heath Council on Aging members, who are always ready to jump in and lend a hand. We can always count on Carin and Althea Freeman, and the Cross-Jalil, Walters, and Sampson families for their friendly service. There have been some other helpful young volunteers along the way, including Alice Thompson’s delightful son, Marselle. My husband Ed and 15-year-old son, Jupiter, are our resident dishwashers.

I also credit the late Victoria E. Burrington, former Heath COA chair, for her vision three years ago to revive the senior meals after the pandemic, and for luckily finding Alice to be our chef.

Lastly, thank you to Alice, who is an absolute blessing, and to our dining attendees who provide enthusiastic support and their vital presence!
