No need for elections

The recent Donald Trump ads on television financed by the taxpayers have raised alarms, not only for the fact that the grifter-in-chief had the temerity to charge us for his propaganda but for the grin and threatening tone of his so-called appeal to America.

But for once, we need to take him at his word. He claims that there is nothing wrong with using our money to proclaim his greatness because he isn’t actually running for office. And he isn’t. The message of his menacing black-and-white presence goes beyond the midterms.

In no uncertain terms, he signals that he doesn’t really care about the coming elections because he is above them. He is the real power, not the voters. If they support him, fine, he will continue to enrich himself and his family with the approval of the American electorate. But if the election goes against him, it won’t matter. The results will be undeniably false in his eyes and in the eyes of the MAGA faithful. He will simply go on with his reign of terror as though nothing happened.

He is telling us that our ability to rule democratically is over. Anyone who opposes him is a communist, a member of the fake news press, or part of the deep state that has tried unfairly to hold him accountable. Accountability is something that he does not believe applies to him. He has said so in as many words many times, and so far he has been proven to be correct.

These are not campaign ads in any traditional sense of the word. These are ads for the coming end of campaigns altogether. He will rule as his friends in Russia, China, and North Korea have always done, untethered to any constitutional restraints.

Be prepared America! Voting is essential, but our responsibilities don’t stop there. There will be a campaign after the campaign is over, a campaign led by this little man to try and prove to you that any negative judgment against him and his cronies is false. We will be called on to defend the results just as our founding forefathers did, pledging to do so with our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor.
