Bernardston, MA – Wendy Lee Raymond, age 83, passed Sunday, September 27, 2026, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of Earl Kimball and Edna (Holloway) Royce who blessed her with a name that she treasured, as she was named for a chocolate company, and the family still has the box that inspired the name.
Wendy married Roger M. Raymond October 18,1959, celebrating 66 years of married life. In 1965, they purchased their home in Bernardston, MA where they remain and raised their family.
While raising her family she was the bookkeeper for Raymond Leasing and Raymond’s Repair until her retirement.
Wendy was a fantastic cook and baker. If she was expecting you, a fresh batch of cookies could be found in her kitchen. Sunday morning meant coffee time, and someone was always stopping in to visit and enjoy her special treats. She started prepping her baked goods weeks before Thanksgiving as she sat 35 family members at her final holiday. She had a famous saying prior to eating “does anyone have any announcements they would like to make?” She was always hoping there would be another reason to celebrate- and to add new members to her table.
Wendy was a member of The United Church of Bernardston; she was always ready and willing to bake whenever called upon. She had a strong faith and prayed from her quilting chair for whomever was in need.
She also loved to plan trips. They purchased a camper so she could travel with Roger while he pursued his racing career. She would often add a secondary adventure of her own along the way. Once they were empty nesters, she planned more extensive trips, traveling across the country and up the eastern coast. Her favorite destination was Myrtle Beach, which became an annual trip until Covid hit.
Wendy was a master quilter who took great joy in creating and gifting quilts to the people she loved. She was also a co-creator of the Quilted Hug Project, which creates shawl-like wraps for people who are undergoing treatments or in nursing homes. What began as a pay it forward project is now a worldwide project, and thousands have been donated to those in need.
She leaves behind her beloved husband Roger, and four children, Kim (Randy) Curtis, Christopher (Debra) Raymond, Regina (Mark) Stewart, Amy (Nathan) Churchill. Her grandchildren Brad (Emma), Wesley (Kendall), Katelyn (Colton), Nicholas (Kristina), Julia (Joe), Elliott (Alyssa), Tanner (Alexa), Alexander and Olivia, Great-Grandchildren, Liam, Cameron, Callahan, Zeke, Chelsea, Gracie, Cole, Clayton and Mark. They are all affectionally called her “Goggie”.
She is also survived by her brothers Charles and Ralph (Alice) Royce, Sister-in-Law Carolyn Prescott and Brother-in-Law David Chula.
Her parting quote to her family was found on her desk. “Grief is the price you pay for Love”
