Northfield, MA – Mark Anthony Horta,74, formerly of Northfield, died peacefully at home in Fajardo, PR, on September 14th. Mark was born on October 27, 1951, to Elizabeth and Antonio S. Horta in Greenfield, MA. He grew up attending Holy Trinity and graduated from GHS in 1970.
Mark married Linda M. Porter on 2/28/76, enjoying 45 years of marriage before her death on 10/7/21. Mark and Linda raised their family in Northfield, while first working for the Painter’s Union, Mark spent most of his life as a self-employed Painting Contractor. He is survived by his children, son Antonio R. Horta (Corrina Steward) of Luquillo, PR and daughter, Marisa L. Horta of Saint Cloud, MN. Mark is also survived by four grandchildren, Leianna and Emmanual Horta and Porter and Priya Thole, as well as, a sister, Cheryl Horta of Madeira, Portugal, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mark enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, golfing, snorkeling, adventuring, and all-around shenanigans. Mark and wife Linda were lifelong travel partners, visiting most of the Caribbean and Europe together before finishing their dream chalet with ocean views in Fajardo, PR. Mark is thankful for his family who could be with him during his last few months and the many friends who were either close by or reaching out. He had a larger-than-life personality; a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend you’ll never forget.
A brief graveside service will be held on Saturday, 10/24/26 at Noon at Calvary Cemetery, Wisdom Way, Greenfield, MA. A Celebration of Life will follow the services immediately at an undetermined location. All are invited and the location will be announced at the service.
