Western Mass EDC names new chief marketing officer
SPRINGFIELD — The Western Mass Economic Development Council has named Justin Roberts as its new chief marketing officer.
Roberts will work with President and CEO Aaron Vega to expand regional storytelling, increase collaboration among members and partners, and build a long-term marketing and communications strategy.
Roberts brings more than 15 years of experience in marketing and economic development, including through leadership roles at Country Bank and Digital Onboarding. He is also the founder of Suit Up Springfield.
Baystate Health announces promotion
SPRINGFIELD — Dr. Seth Gemme has been promoted to chief physician executive of Baystate Health and president of Baystate Medical Practices.
In this role, Gemme will serve as an advisor to Baystate Health and Health New England leadership, and provide a physician’s voice in enterprise decision-making and building a clinically driven and physician-led healthcare system.
Gemme joined the Department of Emergency Medicine at Baystate Health in 2017 and has served in progressively advancing leadership roles across the organization. In his most recent position, he was chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine for both Baystate Health and UMass Chan Medical School – Baystate. His previous leadership roles include system vice chair of clinical operations for emergency medicine, chief of the Emergency Department at Baystate Wing Hospital, and associate chief and education director of the Emergency Department at Baystate Noble Hospital.
Gemme earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Westfield State University and a Doctor of Medicine from the University at Buffalo. He completed his residency training in emergency medicine at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He is currently pursuing his Master of Business Administration degree from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He is also a recipient of Modern Healthcare magazine’s 40 Under 40 award.
Eight Shatz, Schwartz and Fentin attorneys recognized in Best Lawyers 2027 edition
SPRINGFIELD — Eight attorneys from the regional law firm Shatz, Schwartz and Fentin P.C. have been recognized in the Best Lawyers in America 2027 edition, including two attorneys who received the prestigious “Lawyer of the Year” designation.
Michele J. Feinstein was named the 2027 “Lawyer of the Year” in trusts and estates, while Carol Cioe Klyman received the honor in elder law. Best Lawyers’ “Lawyer of the Year” recognition is awarded to attorneys with the highest overall peer feedback in a specific practice area and geographic region.
In addition to their “Lawyer of the Year” honors, Feinstein and Klyman were recognized among the Best Lawyers in America 2027 for multiple practice areas. Feinstein was recognized for elder law, litigation – trusts and estates, and trusts and estates. Klyman was recognized for elder law, and trusts and estates.
Additionally, Michael A. Fenton was recognized for trusts and estates. Timothy P. Mulhern was recognized for corporate law and tax law. Steven J. Schwartz was recognized for business organizations (including LLCs and partnerships), closely held companies and family businesses law, and corporate law. James B. Sheils was recognized for commercial transactions/UCC law, while Steven Weiss was recognized for bankruptcy and creditor debtor rights/insolvency and reorganization law.
Stephen L. Sobey was also recognized in the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America 2027 edition for trusts and estates.
Window World of Western Massachusetts named among Top 500 Remodelers of 2026
