I was pleasantly stunned this morning when a friend forwarded Tim Grant’s letter “Buddy and responsible pet care” to me from the Greenfield Recorder’s Sept. 20 edition. Tim, please be assured I am indeed “having a good day.” Thanks to you!
As a hobby writer who writes on work, working people, nursing, funeral service, and animal protection, I found Tim Grant’s letter to be food for the soul. Every writer needs to know that their efforts reach people and, hopefully, make even a modicum of difference. To see someone refer to something I wrote in the Recorder over a year ago was exactly what I needed, as I just submitted a journal article yesterday and wondered if the many hours of work it took to write it would ever make a difference.
For several years, I wrote and worked on the dangers of dogs being left unattended in cars. It is odd that this common practice still continues in a time when dogs in the United States are more loved and valued than ever. For that reason, every animal lover, every town, every business, and every animal organization should be working on public education to end this. Thank you, Tim Grant.
