Library seeks artists for month-long shows
The Greenfield Public Library has two gallery spaces available for month-long shows in 2027 and is seeking artists who are interested in displaying their work.
Online submissions will be accepted from Thursday, Oct. 1, through Monday, Nov. 30. Jurying will take place in December.

The Suitcase Junket to perform at The Iron Horse
Leverett singer-songwriter Matt Lorenz, aka The Suitcase Junket, has released “One More Mile,” the first single from his upcoming seventh album, “To Go On,” which is scheduled for an Oct. 2 release.
Written in the wake of the sudden 2022 death of Lorenz’s sister, singer-songwriter Kate Lorenz, “To Go On” is described as “a tender, beautiful and arrestingly moving album; an internal dialogue and conversation with the departed.”
The Suitcase Junket will have a record release show at The Iron Horse in Northampton on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at thesuitcasejunket.com.
New Stonesthrow Theater to present ‘The Burning Reed: An Evening with Jalaladdin Mohammed Rumi’
For two weekends in October, the newly formed Stonesthrow Theater will present “The Burning Reed: An Evening with Jalaladdin Mohammed Rumi” at the Wendell Meetinghouse, written and performed with new versions of Rumi’s stories and poems by Joe Laur, and directed by Tim Holcomb.
Evening performances are scheduled for Oct. 15, 16, 17, 22 and 23, at 7:30 p.m. There will also be 2 p.m. matinee performances on Oct. 18, 24 and 25. All performances take place at the Wendell Meetinghouse, 1 Morse Village Road in Wendell.

Stonesthrow Theater is a new theater company in residence at the 1846 Wendell Meetinghouse. The play is the brainchild of Laur, who wrote the script and created original versions of dozens of Rumi’s poems and stories. Laur also plays the title character.
“I’ve been sitting with the idea of crafting a Rumi show for about 30 years, ever since I was first exposed to his poetry, primarily through the free verse translations of Coleman Barks,” Laur said in a statement. “Following the success and good reviews of my performance as The Captain in Court Dorsey’s original play “Swamped” last fall, I was inspired and encouraged to bring Rumi to the stage.”
The core members of Stonesthrow Theater (Dorsey, Holcomb, Laur and Jan Mankowsky) inaugurated their theatrical relationship with “Swamped.” The full season line-up is available on the Stonesthrow Theater website, stonesthrowtheater.com.
