Greenfield , MA – Julia Johnson Burrough died peacefully under Hospice Care on August 11, 2026 at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, MA. She was 74. Julia was born in Wilmington, DE. She was the youngest of 3 children. Her parents were Anne K. Burrough and Edmund J. Burrough. Julia was predeceased by her brother John G. Burrough. She is survived by her sister Lynn P. Burrough and her brother-in-law Joseph Chmara of Waynesville, NC, and several nieces and a nephew: Jessica Brooks of Seattle, WA, Emma E. Chmara of Vista, CA, Carol P. Chmara residing in Sweden, Ivy Palmer of Shelburne Falls, MA, and Joseph Burrough of La Jolla, CA. Julia moved to Greenfield, MA and graduated from Smith College as an Ada Comstock Scholar. She then became an accomplished musician. She was a talented pianist, guitarist, singer and songwriter. She released several CD's of her own music that were very well received. In addition to her music career and after graduating from Smith, She received her RN degree from Greenfield Community College and then worked for many years at the Tapestry Recovery Center in Brattleboro, VT. She leaves behind many devoted friends and will be deeply missed by us all. Funeral Services to be announced at a later date.
