LAVA Center hosting info session on ballot questions
GREENFIELD — The LAVA Center at 324 Main St. will host an information session on the nine ballot questions slated to come before voters in November. The info session will be held Friday, Aug. 21, at 6 p.m.
Ferd Wulkan, Dave Cohen and Doug Selwyn of Franklin County Continuing the Political Revolution will lead an exploration of each of the nine ballot questions to understand what is being proposed, the arguments for and against each question, what impact each question will have if it passes and where voters can go for to find more information.
The full list of ballot questions is as follows:
- Question 1: Expanding the public records law.
- Question 2: Collective bargaining for Committee for Public Counsel Services employees.
- Question 3: State primary elections.
- Question 4: Election Day registration.
- Question 5: State revenue limit and rebate.
- Question 6: Natural Resource Conservation Fund.
- Question 7: Single-family homes.
- Question 8: Prohibit retail sale of adult recreational-use marijuana.
- Question 9: Firearms regulation.

Senior Center hosting book chat
GREENFIELD — The Greenfield Senior Center invites residents to a book chat on Thursday, Sept. 3, at 1 p.m.
Whether you love to read or listen to audiobooks, and whether you’re interested in mysteries, romance novels, fantasy, sci-fi, biographies or another genre, drop in to share a title or author you like and perhaps find a new one.

Learn to craft natural fermented sodas
GREENFIELD — Brooke Bullock will lead a workshop on natural fermented sodas at Just Roots community farm on Glenbrook Drive on Saturday, Sept. 5, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Attendees will learn the basics of liquid fermentation, make their own wildcrafted sodas, explore flavor pairings with a wide assortment of herbs and berries, and leave with the skills to keep experimenting and fermenting at home.
The cost is $50 per ticket, though there are two reduced-price spots available. Attendance will be capped at 20 participants. Advance registration is required at justroots.org/event/natural-fermented-sodas-workshop.
Family-to Family Education Program starts Sept. 15
GREENFIELD — The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) plans to bring its Family-to Family Education Program to Greenfield starting Tuesday, Sept. 15, from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
The Family-to Family Education Program is a free, eight-session educational program for family members, significant others and friends of people with mental health conditions, including anxiety, schizophrenia, depressive disorders and bipolar disorder. It is an evidenced-based program, which means that research shows it improves the coping and problem-solving abilities of the people closest to a person with a mental health condition.
The program is taught by NAMI-trained family members who have lived experience, and includes presentations, discussions and interactive exercises.
