The Mug and Mini Mug Races were held on a picture perfect day for running. As the cannon fired and broke the stillness the sound of 142 sneakers pounding the payment could be heard down Main Street before fading off as the runners headed for the hills. Fifty-three folks patiently waited to begin their trek along the shorter route. The whistle blew and off they flew. What a wonderful day for everyone.
At the finish line a great group of volunteers waited to record and tabulate the results. The MCFD took care of course safety and key water stops were manned by enthusiastic locals. Our very dedicated list of sponsors include: Turns Lawn Care, Clarity Wealth Management, Eagle Construction, Renaissance Builders, Moretti Landscaping, Judd Wire, Greenfield Savings Bank, Raus Towing, Touch of Sakura, Andys’ and Marathon Sports.
The DPW ensured the course was clear of storm debris which is huge plus for a safe run. And a core group of local fiddlers added to the local flavor of our race in true Montague Center style.
This race could not have happened without hours of dedication by so many. Thank you, two small words but ones that have huge heartfelt sentiments.
