8:10 a.m. — Officer conducting a traffic stop on Avenue A. No longer a traffic stop, but an investigation into a minor crash. Written warning issued.
1:28 p.m. — Reporting party from Montague City Road states her phone is being hacked. Believes someone is redirecting her calls and accessing her private information. Technical issue with her phone.
1:56 p.m. — Officer was waved down by a man on the side of Montague City Road. Male party was at the bus stop and asked for a ride to High Street. Advised he was already at the bus stop and the bus will come by in a few minutes. Services rendered.
8:14 p.m. — Caller states her husband works maintenance at the paper mill and advised her there were two people that broke into the facility and were looking around. Reporting party states her husband has video of this and advises the people are walking up the hill. Officers located the involved individuals on Canal Street. Both parties were Mirandized. Requesting trespassing charges be filed.
Tuesday, July 21
4:24 a.m. — Reporting party from Central Street states the fire alarm is going off and they can’t shut it off. Doesn’t see or smell anything. Turners Falls Fire Department sent.
10:02 p.m. — Reporting party from Montague Street states she locked herself and her dog in the basement because there is a bat on the first/second floor. Stating she contacted her landlord and was told to trap the bat. No animal control officer on duty, advising to open the doors/windows. Reporting party is nervous about getting bit. Reporting party was advised that once the landlord returns, the landlord can deal with the issue. If they need assistance, the animal control officer is on duty tomorrow.
10:49 p.m. — Reporting party states there is a pickup truck parked in the triangular baseball field at Franklin County Technical School on Industrial Boulevard. The gate is locked so there shouldn’t be any vehicles behind it. Officers checked the area and did not see a vehicle there.
11:11 p.m. — Reporting party states there are three or four cows in the middle of Wendell Road. Caller is concerned there could be an accident if someone is speeding. Officer drove the length of the road and did not locate any cows.
Wednesday, July 22
8:47 a.m. — Report of a domesticated white pigeon blocking traffic in the crosswalk on Avenue A/First Street. Officer requesting the animal control officer. No response, message left on voicemail. Bird remains in the grass near the hedge at the Great Falls Discovery Center. Does not appear to be able to fly.
10:39 a.m. — Reporting party from Alice Street is concerned about a male party who has been riding around the neighborhood on an e-bike. Reporting party does not recognize him. Reporting party has not witnessed any wrongdoing. Area checked, nothing found.
2:54 p.m. — Reporting party states there is a male party openly drinking alcohol in Peskeompskut Park on Avenue A. Officer advises there is no one in the park matching the description.
9:33 p.m. — Reporting party states there are eight to 10 cows in the roadway on Wendell Road and he almost hit them. Contacted owner of the cows and advised him of the past two complaints. Owner states he will attempt to fix the fence again.
Thursday, July 23
9:14 a.m. — Officer was flagged down at Morris Avenue and Turners Falls Road about a male party entering people’s backyards. Officer stopped and spoke with the male party and advised him of the complaint. Male stated he was looking for a friend’s house and didn’t know the area. Male reported an injury to his finger and requested a ride to the hospital.
4:14 p.m. — Franklin Regional Transit Authority (FRTA) dispatcher advises he was notified by a driver that there is someone on the General Pierce Bridge in a vehicle who is asleep. Running vehicle was located on the Turners Falls-Montague Bridge with someone inside who appears to be passed out and unresponsive. Anthony Michael Cronin, 42, of Chestnut Street in Turners Falls, was arrested on charges of possession of a Class B drug and possession/purchase with intent to distribute drug paraphernalia.
9:44 p.m. — Caller from Hillside Road states she located a small kitten near her house. Reporting party advised she would keep the kitten for the night and will call back tomorrow to speak with the animal control officer.
Friday, July 24
9:04 p.m. — Caller reports a male party is “freaking out” and “tweaking” near Millers Pub and Carroll’s Market on East Main Street. Second caller reports someone approached him and complained about a male party having an open container. Officer providing courtesy transport for a male party to Avenue A, where he will be getting a ride from someone else. Male party was agitated, but did not have an open container.
Saturday, July 25
10:22 a.m. — Reporting party from Park Villa Drive requesting to speak to an officer about issues she is having with several of her neighbors. States one of them was harassing her this morning over her plants and a chair. Reporting party states she spoke with the manager and she did nothing about it. Officer advised the reporting party of her options in court, if necessary. Reporting party was not happy with the response.
12:05 p.m. — Reporting party states a male party came up to her booth at the farmers market in Peskeompskut Park and said he wanted to recruit people to go to the Rod & Gun Club. When she ask him why, he stated “so he can murder people.” Reporting party is very upset and wants the man to leave. Officers en route. Officer advised, per the farmers market director, that the male party was asked to leave and moved along.
3:19 p.m. — Report of a disabled vehicle, described as a van with Vermont plates, by the bridge on Ferry Road. Not as reported. Vehicle is following a farm tractor with its hazards on. No issues.
10:19 p.m. — Caller from Seventh Street reports loud music coming from a nearby residence. Reporting party states she is trying to sleep, but can’t due to the noise. Officer advises he spoke to the homeowner who is having a bachelor party. Homeowner said he will lower the volume.
Sunday, July 26
1:20 p.m. — Report of a brown and white dog in a vehicle “excessively panting” with no water. Windows are approximately one-third of the way down. Reporting party advising this has become a regular occurrence. The dog has been inside the vehicle for more than two hours today and more than four hours yesterday. Reporting party has video substantiating this. Reporting party states the owner is inside Millers Pub on East Main Street. Upon arrival, the dog did not appear to be in distress. Officer made contact with the owner and advised him of the complaint, he’s leaving soon. No need for the animal control officer to follow up at this time.
6:39 p.m. — Upset reporting party advises a motorcycle/dirt bike has been going up and down the road in the area of Turnpike Road and Sandy Lane making a lot of noise. Reporting party states she is concerned for the welfare of operators and others due to the loudness of the bike, which she states is startling. Officer advised.
Monday, July 27
6:12 a.m. — Reporting party states she was walking her dog and there is a vehicle at the Montague Plains with the trunk open and fogged windows. Officer checked on the vehicle. It is locked and secured. Trunk latch is not working properly but there is no one with the vehicle.
11:24 a.m. — Employee from the Nouria gas station on Third Street requesting to speak with an officer. Business reporting vandalism to a gas pump on July 24. Viewed video footage and obtained license plate information. Investigation opened.
11:33 a.m. — Staff member from the Gill-Montague Senior Center on Fifth Street reports that the flower bed on the back side of the property was vandalized. Flowers were pulled up and thrown into the parking lot. Officer advised.
Tuesday, July 28
11:44 a.m. — Reporting party from L Street states she was threatened by a male party while doing yard work. Reporting party later stated that she was not threatened, but he was acting aggressively. Area checked, unable to locate male party.
2:24 p.m. — Report of two females physically fighting outside an RV on Sixth Street. Not as reported. Parties were goofing around, not fighting.
Wednesday, July 29
7:34 a.m. — Reporting party reports a moped has been on the side of the road at the Routes 47/63 crossover for two days, is wondering if maybe someone was hurt in the area and unable to get back to it as vehicles aren’t usually left there. Multiple calls were received about the moped on the side of the road. Callers were advised the Police Department was aware of it. Moped is out of the roadway and not a hazard.
5:49 p.m. — Officer out in the area of Old Greenfield Road and Turners Falls Road, reporting the road is washed out. Requests road closed signs/barricades. Department of Public Works contacted. Cones placed.
Thursday, July 30
2:53 p.m. — Caller states someone at Peskeompskut Park on Avenue A is possibly doing drugs under an awning. Officer advised. Area checked, nobody around.
3:29 p.m. — Caller reports there is someone in the park who has an open container. Reporting party also states there appears to be four people on Sixth Street possibly doing a drug deal. Officer advised. Officer checked the area, no one found.
Friday, July 31
9:28 p.m. — Caller from East Main Street states someone took his package that had five items inside it. Reporting party states it was taken by a non-resident who was in the building. Officer advised. Officer called the male party and left a voicemail.
Saturday, Aug. 1
8:30 a.m. — Reporting party from I Street states her vehicle was broken into overnight. Her vehicle was gone through and about $70 in cash was taken. Reporting party is heading out of town for the day and will call when she gets back if she can find any camera footage. Officer attempted to contact the reporting party by phone. No answer and unable to leave a voicemail.
11:40 a.m. — Reporting party states there is a male party with a black bag consuming alcohol in Peskeompskut Park on Avenue A. Male party dumped out the alcohol he had and was moved along.
9:02 p.m. — Caller states that while he was traveling home, his car hit something in the middle of the roadway. Unsure if the bridge has an issue. Officer advises there is a pothole in the southbound travel lane of the Turners Falls-Gill Bridge. Pothole is significant. Requested the Massachusetts Department of Transportation be contacted and advised.
9:13 p.m. — Caller states he heard the sound of a loud crash coming from the southwest direction of his house. States it could have been an accident but he is unsure. Caller advises it may have been in the area of Madison Avenue/Turners Falls Road/Unity Street. Officer checked the area. No issues seen or heard.
Sunday, Aug. 2
8:45 a.m. — Reporting party on Fairway Avenue states she was supposed to receive a laptop via FedEx that was purchased by her employer. When the package arrived, it had been ripped open and retaped. The laptop bag was inside the box but the laptop was missing. Reporting party needs a police report for her employer. Report taken.
