Greenfield, MA – Margaret Ellen (Forfa) “Peg” Grimes, age 74 of Greenfield, Massachusetts passed away at home Tuesday, August 4, 2026 after a long battle with cancer. Born to the late Anthony Forfa and Nadine Mills of Great Barrington in October of 1951, Peggy graduated from Monument Mountain Regional High School in June, 1969 and attended UMass Amherst. Throughout High School, Peggy worked at Catherine’s Chocolates, then after college at Phoenix Mutual, before later turning to substitute teaching.
Peg enjoyed bowling competitively, with multiple perfect 300 scores on record, was an avid reader, and loved spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, David Grimes; two sons, David Grimes II, and Andrew Grimes; as well as daughter-in-Law, Heather Grimes. Peg is also survived by her eldest brother, Tony Forfa; twin sister, Joan Darada; as well as 7 younger brothers and 6 younger sisters, David Forfa; Barbara Forfa; Marjorie Lindsay; Marie Tighe; Stanley Forfa; John Forfa; William Forfa; Nadine Bracken; Tommy Forfa; Suzanne Forfa; Nelson Forfa; Leigh Forfa; Darren Forfa. In addition to her parents, Peg was preceded in death by her eldest sister Nancy St. Marie.
