Please be cautious when enjoying Cushman Park. There are trees with dead branches that could fall down at any time.
Cushman Park Committee had a tree company working on the trees Thursday Aug. 13, when a selectman came to the park quite angry and said we had no right to cut down trees on town property. We were trimming dead wood, not cutting down the trees. He then threatened the two women committee members that he would have them arrested if they didn’t stop the work.
We the committee had voted to use trust funds to hire a company to do this work. We felt the people who use the park were in danger of falling branches. We wanted the work to be done before Scarecrow in the Park. The tree warden had looked at the work in May; nothing has been done.
The Cushman Hall/Park Committee is very sorry for the danger this causes. We hope no one is injured.
