Paul D. Laramie

Bernardston, MA – Paul David Laramie, beloved patriarch of the Laramie family, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, at the age of 77. A cherished brother, uncle, friend, and devoted member of his family, Paul was a source of love, strength, humor, and guidance to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, patriotism, and countless unforgettable memories.

Born on April 12, 1949, in Greenfield, Massachusetts, Paul was the son of Arthur and Dorothy (Baronas) Laramie. He lived a life filled with purpose, compassion, and meaningful connections. Paul made his home at 68 Huckle Hill Road in Bernardston, Massachusetts, where he created many lasting memories and built strong bonds with those around him.

Paul proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, carrying with him a deep sense of patriotism and commitment to his country. After his military service, Paul worked as a machine operator at Judd Wire before retiring. During retirement, he continued to serve others as a custodian at the VA Medical Center in Leeds, where he took pride in supporting his fellow veterans.

Paul was known for his deep family bonds and his belief that family always came first. Although he did not have children of his own, his five siblings and many nieces and nephews held a very special place in his heart. He treasured every family connection and showed his love through his loyalty, generosity, and the time he spent creating memories with those closest to him.

Paul was a man of many passions and simple joys. In his younger years, he was an avid fisherman, enjoying the peace and adventure that came with time spent outdoors. He was also a lifelong sports fan, proudly cheering for the Boston Red Sox and the Dallas Cowboys. One of his favorite sayings after a Cowboys game was, with a smile and enthusiasm, “How ’bout dem Cowboys?”

Those who knew Paul will remember his wonderful sense of humor and his talent for making people laugh. He loved pulling practical jokes and bringing joy to others. His famous Yankee Swap Christmas gifts became legendary, always bringing laughter and surprises to family gatherings. Each Christmas, Paul also became the voice of Santa, delighting young believers and helping make the holiday magical for generations of family members.

In his later years, Paul enjoyed taking joyrides with his long time friend John, where the destination often included one of life’s simple pleasures – good food. Whether stopping for takeout or making a grocery trip an adventure, Paul found happiness in the companionship, conversation, and shared moments along the way.

Paul’s greatest accomplishment was not measured by titles or achievements, but by the love he gave and the relationships he nurtured. His family was his greatest priority, and the values he lived by – loyalty, kindness, humor, and devotion – will continue to inspire everyone who knew and loved him.

Paul will be deeply missed by his long time friend John; his siblings Daniel, Gerald and his wife Rita, Linda, Richard, and Karen and her husband Alfred; as well as his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. The love he shared, the wisdom he offered, and the memories created together will remain forever in their hearts.

The family would like to extend special thanks to David Higgins, Paul’s primary care provider and friend, for the care, compassion, and kindness he provided during Paul’s illness.

Funeral services at Paul’s request will be private. A celebration of Paul’s life will be held on August 22 at his sister Linda’s home, where family and friends will gather to remember and honor a remarkable man whose life was defined by love, loyalty, laughter, and devotion.

Rest peacefully, Paul. Your love, your laughter, your legacy, and the beautiful memories you created will remain with us forever.
