The Menace defeated the Havoc, 17-1, in the Franklin County Softball League quarterfinals at Murphy Park on Wednesday night. The Menace scored scored 11 runs in the first inning.
Sammi Suhl and Sofia Melnik both had a hit and an RBI for the Menace. Suhl also picked up the win in the circle with four strikeouts. Alexis Berry had a two-run single for the Menace.
Suhl and Melnik also led the team with three runs scored. Kendra Steiner and Chloe Banas both added an RBI.
Defenders 9, Magic 8 — Shelby Beck’s RBI single in the bottom of the fifth won it for the Defenders in the FCSL quarterfinals. Addi Talbot came home from second base on the play for the game-winning run. Aurora Moynihan went 2-for-2 with an RBI for the Defenders.
Beck and Grace Baronas both ended up with two RBI. Beck also got the win in the circle, pitching three innings with four strikeouts.
Ava Eddy launched a towering three-run home run in the top half of the inning to give the Magic the lead. Chloe Cusson walked twice for the Magic.
It was the first homer of Eddy’s softball career.
Fury 20, Flyers 0 — Charlie Lovett paced the offense in the Fury’s quarterfinal win over the Flyers. Lovett went 4-for-4 with five RBI. She also pitched two innings of no-hit softball with three strikeouts.
The Bombers scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth to help put the game out of reach.
Leah Batiste, Kamryn Beck (four RBI) and Tianna Moise-Valdez (two RBI) each had multiple hits for the Fury. Lovett hit a three-run double in the first inning for the Fury. Moise-Valdez also doubled in the inning. Both players finished with two doubles.
Batiste added a triple for the Fury.
Bombers 9, Wolfpack 3 — Samantha LaFlesh had it going in the circle for the Bombers in the quarterfinal win over the Wolfpack. The hard-throwing LaFlesh struck out 13 hitters in a complete game victory. LaFlesh gave up five hits and two earned runs in her outing.
Samantha LaFlesh, Sienna LaFlesh (three RBI) and Corinne Charlebois each collected two hits for the Bombers to help supply the offense.
Alexandra Johnson went 2-for-4 for the Wolfpack. Kennedy Unaitis struck out 11 hitters in six innings for the Wolfpack. Mackenzie Matthews added a hit and an RBI.
