Massachusetts did not officially participate in the 250th “State Fair” recently in Washington, D.C. At first it said the state was not going because of “budget
constraints,” but Forbes Magazine told the real story:
“Gov. Maura Healey, D-Mass., told Boston Public Radio that Trump is ‘too busy with his ‘Great American State Fair’ down there that everybody’s bailing on.’ When asked if she would welcome the president to any anniversary celebrations in Massachusetts, Healey accused the president of using the fair to ‘get money into his own pocket.’”
Seriously? Our governor cannot put aside her petty peeves with Trump for a once in a lifetime event?
I am enraged and embarrassed by this callousness, and now ashamed to say I live here. Don’t tell me to “move,” because if I had the money I’d go to New Hampshire. They will be attending. I love the area I live in, but wish we had a governor who wasn’t such a partisan “politician” and let her personal feelings prevent the state from participating in the only 250th “birthday” celebration this country will have. Pathetic.
