WENDELL — The Wendell Historical Commission has planned a public reading of the Declaration of Independence at the town common on Saturday, July 4.
Secretary Lisa Hoag said everyone who gathers from 10 to 11 a.m. will get a chance to read a portion if they would like to.
“It’s a really simple ceremony,” she said, adding that roughly 15 people attended last year’s event.
Attendees will also read the three paragraphs of the Preamble to the Massachusetts Constitution, which was written by John Adams in 1780 and later served as a model for the U.S. Constitution.
People are encouraged to bring chairs, snacks and cold drinks.
