The Mahar Regional girls summer league basketball team held off a late charge by Athol in a 30-20 win at Franklin Tech on Thursday. Nastasia Sanders led Mahar with nine points, while Taylor Paluk added eight points. Jaya McBroom chipped in with six points.

Serena Nkengafe (eight points) and Kamrya Clark (four points) led Athol in scoring. Evelyn King hit a late 3-pointer for Athol.

Mohawk 37, Greenfield 33 — Mohawk went to the perimeter to build up a lead in the win over Greenfield. The Warriors connected on five 3-pointers in the first half. Natalie Lanoue and Valerie Bzomowski both had two in the first half, with Aurora Moynihan adding another.

Greenfield mounted a comeback against Mohawk’s reserves, but fell short. Emmalee Inman and Clara Stevens both had late buckets to help seal the game. Lanoue finished with 11 points, while Bzomowski added eight points.

Tayler Bergeron scored 14 points for Greenfield. Annie Cobileanschi chipped in with seven points for the Green Wave.

Frontier 46, Pioneer 15 — In the battle of the unbeatens, Frontier got 12 points from Abby Cendrowski and Harper Modestow in the victory. Sadie Nichols also reached double-figures with 11 points. Maggie Tsipenyuk had six points for Pioneer.

Frontier 53, Franklin Tech 22 — Cendrowski dropped 19 points in the nightcap victory for the Redhawks. Jazzy Hayes added 14 points for Frontier. Brayleigh Burgh scored 11 points while Bella Brown-Stratton chipped in with eight points.

DRIVE Hoops League

Bruso Computer Solutions 85, OSC-Manning 78 Malik Grove exploded for 38 points in the win for Bruso in Men’s League play on June 1. Evan Bruso added eight points. Jamal Stanley (24 points) and Javon Messiah (16 points) led OSC-MANNING in scoring.

Crossover Crew 58, Zone Six 49 — Tucker Llewelyn and (18 points) and Mike Menard (11 points) led the way for the Crossover Crew in the win over Zone 6. Trevor Thomas scored 10 points for Zone Six, with Aiden Hernandez adding nine points.

No Name 88, Rattigan & Sons 58 — Grayson Thomas scored 23 points in the win for No Name. Chris Brown wasn’t far behind with 22 points. Tae Williams scored 26 points for Rattigan, with Sean Rattigan adding nine points.

Legion Baseball

Greenfield Post 81 (14), Sheffield Post 340 (1) The offense popped for Greenfield in the five-inning road win over Sheffield on July 1. Sam Connors, Aidan Shea, Bodie Burke, and Tad Loud each had two RBI for Greenfield (9-0). Conner Bergeron went 3-for-4 with a double. Arthur Fitzpatrick got the win on the mound, pitching four innings with a strikeout.

Soccer

The FIFA World Cup will make its third appearance at the Greenfield Garden Cinemas on Monday night when the Americans play Belgium at 8 p.m.

“The theater will be free early so everyone can come and watch the pre-show,” Greenfield Garden Cinemas co-owner Isaac Mass said in an email.

Snowboarding & Freeskiing

Landon and Lucas Allenby of Greenfield competed at the USASA National Championships at Copper Mountain in Colorado in April. Landon Allenby finished fifth place nationally out of 60 competitors in the rail jam.

Franklin County Softball League

Havoc 6, Wolfpack 1 — Lexi Hawkins hit a two-run triple in the third inning to help the Havoc pull away in the win over the Wolfpack on Wednesday. Lindsey Hawkins also singled in the inning, scoring another run. Lexi Hawkins got the win in the circle with nine strikeouts. Ryleigh Pease (RBI) and Kaylee Fernette both had hits for the Wolfpack.

Defenders 6, Menace 4 Autumn DiMare hit a big two-run single for the Defenders in their win over the Menace on July 1. DiMare’s hit came in the bottom of the third, giving the Defenders a 5-3 lead. Shelby Beck got the win in the circle with six strikeouts. Alexis Berry pitched six innings for the Menace, giving up three hits with four strikeouts. Kaylin Sevoian and Aurora Moynihan had RBI for the Defenders. Sofia Melnik, Daphne Banas and Juniper Totino had RBI for the Menace.

Fury 17, Flyers 4 — The Fury moved to 4-0 on the season after cruising past the Flyers on July 1. The Fury pounded 14 hits in the victory. Leah Batiste, Charlie Lovett and Ima Jean Louis each had multiple hits for the Fury. Lovett pitched 3 1/3 innings with three strikeouts for the Fury. Tianna Moise-Valdez and Kinsley Bergeron had three RBI. Riley Dyer and Jillian DeBlase each had a hit for the Flyers.
