Meeting to discuss fire truck purchase
MONTAGUE CENTER — The Montague Center Fire District Prudential Committee will meet on Thursday, June 18, at 6 p.m. at the Montague Center Fire Station, 28 Old Sunderland Road, to learn about plans to purchase a new 3,000-gallon tanker.
This is an informational meeting on the proposed purchase to replace Engine 2, which is more than 30 years old and past the recommended 25-year lifespan, based on National Fire Protection Association standards. Engine 2 is also experiencing operational issues with increasing repair costs.
A final vote on whether to purchase the new tanker will take place during the Prudential Committee’s annual meeting on Thursday, June 25.
Church hosting three-in-one tag, bake and pierogi sale

TURNERS FALLS — Our Lady of Czestochowa Church at 84 K St. is celebrating Father’s Day by hosting three different events on Saturday, June 20 — a tag sale, a bake sale and a pierogi sale. The three-in-one event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The tag sale will include items such as furniture, housewares, appliances, exercise equipment and jewelry. The bake sale will feature a wide variety of fresh baked items, and the pierogi sale will offer the St. Hyacinth Pierogi Makers’ frozen packages with a half-dozen potato-and-cheese pierogi for $12 per package.
In addition, the Knights of Columbus Council 737 will sell grilled hot dog and soda combos on site for $5.
Ice cream social, wound care info session set for June 25
ERVING — The Erving Senior & Community Center, 1 Care Drive, will host an ice cream social with staff from New England Wound Care, who will share information on treatment of wounds and ostomies, on Thursday, June 25, at 1 p.m.
This event is free, but requires advance registration by calling the Senior Center at 413-423-3649.
Riverside Water District holding annual meeting
GILL — The Riverside Water District is meeting to vote on its $55,000 annual budget and to hold an election for district officers on Tuesday, June 30, at 5 p.m. at the Riverside Municipal Building, located at 54 French King Highway (Route 2).
This meeting will go over the annual budget that is up $5,000 from the prior year, reflecting a rise in the cost of fire hydrant equipment and personnel costs.
Election of the district officers will also take place that evening, with nominations on the meeting floor. Incumbents seeking reelection include Marie Suprenant for a one-year term as moderator and Don Shebell for a three-year term as commissioner. Scott Waldron is running for treasurer and district clerk.
Gill residents who are interested in being elected to an officer position are encouraged to attend.
