Greenfield, MA – Robert G. “Bob” Barber Sr., 88, of Elm Terrace, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Baystate Franklin Medical Center, with his family by his side. He was born in Greenfield on October 16, 1937, the son of George and Catherine (Bellows) Barber. He attended Holy Trinity School and Greenfield High School.
Prior to his retirement, Bob worked in security at Historic Deerfield. Previously, he worked as a hardener at Bendix Tools for over 20 years.
He was a proud U.S. Army veteran. Bob enjoyed New England sports, history, politics, fishing, and, most of all, anything involving his family.
Bob is survived by his eight children: Jeffrey Barber, Brian Barber (Gabby), Gregory Barber, all of Houston, Texas; Bob Barber Jr. (Patricia) of Easthampton; Anthony Barber of Greenfield; Lisa Moriarty (Mike) of Springfield; Shelley Barber (Jeff) of Turners Falls; and Deborah Mulligan (Robert) of Greenfield; his brother, Bob Felton of Leyden; 14 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Carole (Gordon) Barber; his longtime partner, Judy Turner; his brothers, Francis and Richard; his sisters, Marie and Joan; and his parents.
Bob’s family would like to thank the team at Baystate Franklin for their loving care until his passing.
