The Four Rivers varsity ultimate squad took first place at the team’s 23rd Annual Ultimate tournament held at Greenfield Community College on May 9.
The athletes from 35 different schools from around New England played through some wet conditions in the competition.
The Otters defeated Northampton, 13-5, in the finals. Four Rivers went 4-0 in Open Division A play. The Four Rivers girls varsity squad also took first place in Division A, going 4-0 on the day.
The junior varsity boys team came in third in Division B. The middle school boys team finished 2-2 (Division C), while the junior varsity girls team placed fourth in the B Division.
Next for the Otters is the 11th Annual Pioneer Valley Invitational, taking place at the Oxbow in Northampton.
Greenfield Minor League Baseball
Gilmore & Farrell 27, TFAC 8 — Joe Gardner went 5-for-5 in the win for Gilmore & Farrell on May 11. Blake Miner and Adrian Lopez combined to go 8-for-10 with Lopez adding a triple. Anna Bartlett went 2-for-2 with two dingers and five RBI for TFAC. Jace Brunelle added two hits.

Ginger Cat Sealcoating 13, Ruggeri Real Estate 12 —Ginger Cat slipped past Ruggeri Real Estate on May 11. Gabe Kolosewicz had a double and a single while Raphael McCarthy singled twice for the victors. Xavier McCarthy added two hits and pitched a scoreless inning. For Ruggeri, Wyatt Lapine had three hits while Morgan Wyngowski added two hits. Both Lapine and Wyngowski pitched well on the mound.

Greenfield Garden Cinema 9, Vermont Wildcats 9 — The Moviegoers settled for a tie against the Wildcats on May 11. Makenna Ward led the offense for Greenfield Garden Cinema Cinema with three hits including a double. Tayanna N’Dissi, Alexis Preissler, Penelope Gioules and Dani Zraunig all had hits for the Moviegoers. Virginia Gilbeau doubled for Vermont.
Junior Division
Perspective Learning 2, Franklin First Credit Union 1 — The Learners edged the Creditors on May 11. For Perspective, Vivian Baron had the first two hits of her career and drove home the game-winning run. Quinn Phillips added two hits while flashing some leather on defense. For Franklin, Addie Parker had two hits while Nora Lunt scored a run.
Pipiones 20, Descavich 18 — Grace Hickey, Aurianna Stribley-Ortiz, Savannah Thomas and Adrianna Peters hit safely in the win for Pipiones on May 11. Mia Beckwith had three hits for Descavich, with Zoey Lively and Grayson Baker adding two base knocks each.
Sandri 3, Elks 1 — Sophia Flores and Eulialia Leonard both went 3-for-3 in the win for Sandri on May 11. Grace Reardon had a strikeout in the circle on her birthday. Hazel Muise-Sheldon’s single brought home Addison Lambert for the Elks’ only run. Willow Bettencourt also had a single. Lambert went 2-for-3 for Elks.

Dave Dion recorded an ace on May 11. Dion sunk the shot on the fifth hole with an 8-iron. Ray Zukowski, Bob Bourbeau and Fran Togneri witnessed.
