New Salem’s fourth-quarter tax bills due May 1
NEW SALEM — Fourth-quarter tax bills are due on Friday, May 1.
Visit newsalemma.org and click the “Online Payments & Bill Look-Up” link to check your tax bills or to make or schedule an online payment by bank payment, credit/debit card, PayPal or Venmo. Contact the assessors about assessed value, abatements and exemptions, or address or owner changes, by calling 978-544-5814 or sending an email to assessors@newsalemma.org.
Exemption and abatement forms can be found at newsalemma.org/assessors. With questions about paying a bill, contact the tax collector at taxcollector@newsalemma.org or 978-544-5775.
Non-cash payments can be deposited in the 24-hour dropbox located in front of Town Hall at 15 South Main St. or mailed to the tax collector at 24 South Main St., New Salem, MA 01355. Postal orders can be used in place of cash. Cash payments in exact change can be made during office hours on Thursdays from 10 a.m. to noon.
New Salem COA sponsoring lunch
NEW SALEM — The Council on Aging is sponsoring a lunch for New Salem seniors (ages 60 and over) at the Central Congregational Church at 22 South Main St. on Friday, May 8.
For a $5 suggested donation, seniors will be served barbecue chicken or a vegan option, potato salad, coleslaw and fruit cobbler, prepared by local caterer Lisa DeWitt. For more details and to register, call Dianna Zani at 413-239-4175. Seating is limited.
Good Neighbors Food Pantry fundraiser set for Full Moon Coffeehouse
WENDELL — John Sheldon and his harp guitar will perform at Town Hall at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, with the proceeds to benefit the Good Neighbors Food Pantry.
The pantry serves residents of New Salem and Wendell with a free food share at Wendell Town Hall every Sunday at 11 a.m. The May 2 show will feature an array of baked goods for sale — a “Dessert-O-Rama” — along with coffee and popcorn.
Music starts with an open mic at 7:30 p.m. There are no advance tickets or reservations, and a sliding-scale donation of $7 to $20 (cash only) will be accepted at the door. For more information, visit wendellfullmoon.org.
LaunchSpace to hold annual ReMake Festival
ORANGE — The LaunchSpace makerspace will hold its fourth annual ReMake Festival — a free, family-friendly celebration of creativity, sustainability and giving new life to old things — at 131 West Main St., Suite 342, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 2.
Event highlights include a craft swap (bring unused craft supplies or seeds and seedlings and trade them for something new), electronics recycling and a “bisque bash” (for $5, take smash a damaged or unwanted bisque pot, baseball-style). The festival also features hands-on make-and-take activities, including leatherworking, paper flowers, collage cards, a photo booth and more. Proceeds will benefit the LaunchSpace Scholarship Fund.
