The MASCAC selected Hannah Gilbert of Colrain as the Rookie of the Week on April 13. The freshman is on a tear for the MCLA softball team. In the last week, Gilbert went 7-for-19 with five home runs and 10 RBI for the Trailblazers.
It is the third straight week Gilbert won the award for MCLA. For the season, Gilbert is hitting .319 with five homers and 24 RBI. In the circle, the Franklin Tech graduate is 6-4 with a 2.48 ERA with 42 strikeouts.
Wrestling
The Deerfield Recreation Department is holding a co-ed wrestling clinic for youth wrestlers as well as high school grapplers. The next date for the clinic is April 20 in the Frontier Regional Cafeteria. Clinics begin at 5 p.m., for grades three through eight. Here are the scores from week ending on April. In Monday’s Mixed League, Jen Tobey scored a 106 in high single and a 279 in high triple. Ben Cerone rolled a 121 in high single and a 322 in high triple.
In Tuesday’s League, Debbie Richards carded a 118 in high single. In high triple, Richards and Jane Stangl both had a 251.
In Wednesday’s Mixed League, Sam Purinton rolled a 107 in high single and a 283 in high triple. John Herron carded a 125 in high single and a 315 in high triple.
In Thursday’s Mixed League, Colleen Barrows scored a 107 in high single and a 301 in high triple. Scott Schneider rolled a 145 in high single and Matt Gilbert carded a 384 in high triple.
