Hill Neighborhood planning workshop set for Thursday

MONTAGUE — A planning workshop will be held on Thursday, April 16, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Shea Theater Arts Center, 71 Avenue A, where residents will be asked to give feedback on the Hill Neighborhood Green Infrastructure Master Plan.

This will be the second of two sessions where residents and stakeholders can provide feedback on this plan, which is a town initiative addressing slope stabilization challenges in the Turners Falls neighborhood on the hill above Unity Park.

The initiative is funded by a Massachusetts Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) grant, and the event notice from the town of Montague states “the project will identify strategies to improve resilience, reduce erosion risks and enhance neighborhood open spaces through green infrastructure solutions.”

Youth behavioral workshops start April 16

TURNERS FALLS — Positive Solutions, a program for parents and caregivers of children in preschool up to age 8 who are experiencing behavioral challenges, will come to The Brick House Community Resource Center on Third Street for a six-week program starting on Thursday, April 16.

This program will run on Thursdays until May 21, and will take place from 4:45 to 6:45 p.m. This program includes a free dinner and child care, plus a raffle at the end of each session.

Community Legal Aid coming to The Brick House

TURNERS FALLS — The Brick House Community Resource Center on Third Street will welcome staff from Community Legal Aid’s Family Preservation Program on Thursday, April 16, from 10 to 11 a.m.

This program is designed to help families who are involved with the Department of Children and Families, and who are working to keep their children at home. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions.

Montague Retreat Center to host ‘Far Out’ screening

MONTAGUE — The film “Far Out: Life On & After the Commune” will be shown at the Montague Retreat Center at 177 Ripley Road, which was once the location of the Montague Farm commune, the subject of the film by Charles Light. The screening will be held on Sunday, April 19, at 7:30 p.m.

The screening will feature a post-film discussion with Sam Lovejoy, Montague Farm commune member and anti-nuclear activist, and Verandah Porche, a poet and member of the Packer Corners commune in Guilford, Vermont.

There is a suggested donation of $15, and the donations will benefit the LUCE Immigrant Justice Network of Massachusetts.

Painting with Bill Dolan returns to Erving

ERVING — Another session of painting with artist Bill Dolan will be offered at the Erving Senior & Community Center, 1 Care Drive, on Tuesday, April 21, at noon.

Registration is required. Participation costs $30 per person, with 10 spots available. An 11-inch-by-14-inch canvas and painting materials will be provided.
