North Main Street to remain one way for another week

ORANGE — North Main Street has been reduced to one way starting at its intersection with School Street, and will remain so for roughly another week.

Motorists are asked to avoid this area if possible and instead use the Mechanic Street detour if they need to go north beyond Town Hall or The Dance Studio. People are reminded that Mechanic Street is a residential neighborhood and to keep their vehicles to a reasonable speed.

The construction work is being conducted by the ONYX Corporation.

Police Department offers Autism/Cognitive Needs Residence Form

ORANGE — With April being Autism Awareness Month, the Orange Police Department took to Facebook to share its Autism/Cognitive Needs Residence Form (tinyurl.com/AutismOrange), which helps the Police Department obtain critical information in the event of an emergency.

The information provided in the form is not shared with the public; it is put into the department’s system and made available to law enforcement to ensure they can best serve community members with neurodivergence. According to the Facebook post, this system helped officers reunite a family after their child went missing this past year.

Anyone with questions should contact Officer Evangeline Cakounes at ecakounes@townoforange.org. Residents are also advised to let the department know if they need to update a previously submitted form.
