Ashfield to host community square dance
ASHFIELD — The town will host a free community square dance for all ages on Saturday, April 25, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at Ashfield Town Hall.
The event will feature instruction by Lila West, who has been square dancing since her youth, as well as music by the Falltown String Band, which plays music ranging from folk to country and blues. No experience is necessary to participate in the square dance.

Bridge to be closed next week in Ashfield
ASHFIELD — The bridge on Beldingville Road will be closed for repairs beginning Monday, April 13, and will remain closed until the following Monday, April 20.
The town asks residents and motorists to seek an alternate route during this time period, with the most likely route being Baptist Corner Road.
Shelburne passes four articles at Special Town Meeting
SHELBURNE — Seventeen residents unanimously passed all four warrant articles at Wednesday’s Special Town Meeting, according to Town Clerk Joe Judd.
Article 1 approved taking $9,300 from the Community Preservation Fund and splitting it evenly into three different accounts: the Historic Resource Reserve Account, the Community Housing Reserve Account and the Open Space Reserve Account.
Article 2 transferred $22,800 from free cash for the following uses: health insurance, $6,000; reserve fund, $2,300; Memorial Hall expenses, $3,000; EV charging stations, $1,500; and Cowell Gymnasium maintenance, $10,000.
Article 3 asked voters to transfer $1,507 from the Street Light Account to cover an Eversource bill for work completed on Patten Road in the prior fiscal year, and Article 4 asked voters to transfer $8,000 from the Cowell Gym User Fee Account to the Cowell Gym Outdoor Courts Account to cover tennis court refurbishment costs.
