Shelburne Falls, MA – Matthew Burke Price, 68, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026, in Springfield, MA. Matt was born October 2, 1957 in Alexandria, VA, to James Noel Price and Marjorie Helen (Burke) Price. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, James Price. Matt is survived by his spouse, Jenifer Lawrence, and five siblings: Kathy Lenk, Judith Price Green, Amy Price, Mark Price, and Chris Price, and beloved sister-in-law Christa Price.
Matt was a consummate musician and singer-songwriter. He shared his deep love of music and composition with his granddaughter, Angela, a musical artist in her own right. He picked up a guitar as a teen, and never set it down. Matt performed at various folk festivals and music venues; some of his favorite stages include The Ark in Ann Arbor, and the Couth Buzzard and Bushwick Book Club, both in Seattle. He loved playing music with his friends in Seattle and at Floodwater Brewing Co. in Shelburne Falls. Matt has produced two albums, and a third will be released posthumously. In addition to music, Matt enjoyed spending time with Jenifer, walking and hiking, reading, poetry, and philosophy.
Matt's ashes will be interred at Arms Cemetery in Shelburne Falls, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations to your favorite local charity are appreciated.
