Friday, Jan. 2

10:08 a.m. — Driver reports being rear-ended while pulling into his driveway on Turners Falls Road. Tow requested. Report taken.

2:16 p.m. — Turners Falls High School employee would like it on record that there have been multiple suspicious acts at the school pool. It appears someone has been vandalizing equipment. Caller will call back if the school gets any information as to who is behind it.

2:35 p.m. — Employee at the Montague Bookmill would like it on record that someone has been leaving antisemitic writing on the bathroom walls and in some books. Caller is unsure who it could be but will call back if they learn more.

Saturday, Jan. 3

2:26 p.m. — Lost black-and-white female cat reported on Bulkley Street.

Monday, Jan. 5

10:47 p.m. — Reporting party at South Prospect and Highland streets reports that at approximately 10:15 or 10:20 p.m. he struck a cement-type pillar with his vehicle. No injuries or fluids reported. No airbag deployment but the vehicle will need to be towed. Reporting party states the vehicle is out of the road but is still stuck on the pillar. Reporting party got a ride back to his house and is no longer on scene. Officer advises the vehicle is stuck on the metal post of a guardrail. Tow requested.

Tuesday, Jan. 6

12:35 p.m. — Reporting party states fire alarms are going off on Lake Pleasant Road and smoke is in the building. Montague Center Fire Department checking out the woodstove.

Wednesday, Jan. 7

12:17 a.m. — Greenfield Police Department requesting assistance closing the road at the Fifth Street bridge due to a crash on the Greenfield side of the bridge. Services rendered.

Thursday, Jan. 8

1:45 p.m. — Caller on Green Pond Road believes the Social Security office is underpaying her benefits because she does not have health insurance. Caller was advised to contact legal counsel.

2:43 p.m. — Two-vehicle crash reported at Montague City Road and Greenfield Road. Officer advising one female party hit her head and will need to be taken to Baystate Franklin Medical Center. Tows requested for both vehicles. Greenfield Police Department requested to assist with traffic backing up on the Greenfield side of the bridge.

Friday, Jan. 9

12:34 p.m. — Officer was stopped by a citizen reporting a dead goose along the road in the area of Migratory Way. Requesting the Department of Public Works remove it. DPW does not service that road. Dispatcher made contact with the property manager for FirstLight Hydro Generating Co., which maintains the area. He will locate the goose and remove it.

3:07 p.m. — Reporting party on Federal Street states someone dropped off seven packages of food that he didn’t order. Reporting party spoke with an officer and decided it was most likely dropped off at the wrong address. He was advised he could keep the food or donate it to a food pantry.

Saturday, Jan. 10

2:25 p.m. — Caller on Morris Avenue is requesting police assist with a female party who came into the apartment to get some belongings from a recently deceased man. Situation mediated. Female was able to get some important items. They were advised to call back if there’s an issue the next time belongings need to be transferred.

9:57 p.m. — Report of a dog barking non-stop on East Main Street for 30 minutes. Advised of complaint.

Sunday, Jan. 11

9:55 p.m. — Off-duty officer advising his daughter was involved in a crash on Old Northfield Road due to road conditions. Tow company en route. Officer requesting the Department of Public Works be contacted regarding the road and either treat it or barricade it for the night.

11:31 p.m. — Security alarm sounding at The Rendezvous on Third Street. Building checked, no sign of entry.

Monday, Jan. 12

8:11 a.m. — Reporting party on Oakman Street states she heard a strange noise outside last night and noticed this morning that a shutter was ripped off her house. Caller believes someone caused the damage rather than it being caused by wind. Officer advised. Shutter was found on the ground in brittle pieces. It appears that aging of the shutter in combination with the weather caused the shutter to fall.

1:03 p.m. — Reporting party on Millers Falls Road states his neighbor called him to say there is a firearm laying on the pathway in front of his house. Not as reported. Determined to be an Airsoft gun.

Tuesday, Jan. 13

1:08 p.m. — Walk-in to the station looking to speak to an officer due to a breach in her Greenfield Savings Bank account. Attempted theft of a total of $4,600, but nothing was actually taken. Accounts have been closed and the bank is investigating. Reporting party was provided statement forms and was asked to provide statements showing the attempted transactions.

Wednesday, Jan. 14

1:59 p.m. — Employee at 253 Farmacy on Millers Falls Road reporting they were paid with a counterfeit $20 bill. Item retrieved and brought to the station.

Thursday, Jan. 15

3:07 p.m. — Vehicle rear-ended at Franklin County Technical School on Industrial Boulevard. Minor damage.

Friday, Jan. 16

8:34 a.m. — Caller on East Mineral Road states that sometime yesterday afternoon, a man showed up to his property with a black pickup truck and a large trailer. The reporting party was not home, but his aunt was. The man reportedly told his aunt that he was there to pick up the reporting party’s excavator to service it and the aunt allowed him to take it, but the reporting party has not scheduled any equipment servicing and he has no idea who took the excavator. Reporting party filled out a stolen vehicle report. Excavator was entered into the National Crime Information Center database.

7:18 p.m. — Reporting party on Franklin Street states sewage is backing up into his basement. Reporting party went outside and nothing is draining in the grates. Department of Public Works contacted and will evaluate.

Saturday, Jan. 17

12:42 p.m. — Caller on Wendell Road states a car went off the road across from her house and into the ditch. Driver is not injured. Vehicle unable to be driven out of the ditch without assistance and the driver has contacted AAA. No police assistance needed.

12:53 p.m. — Caller on Federal Street is inquiring about a bill she received that says she owes money for unpaid taxes from a business, but she has never owned a business. Reporting party has not provided any information or exchanged any currency in regard to the piece of mail. Reporting party was advised that it is a scam and to disregard the paperwork. Incident will be on record.

10:39 p.m. — Reporting party at 12th and G streets states there is a car outside that has had its lights on for a prolonged period of time. States the headlights are shining in her windows. Officer spoke with the vehicle’s operator, who is shoveling his driveway and will move the vehicle once he is done.

Sunday, Jan. 18

11:37 a.m. — Multiple calls about a crash at Turners Falls Road and Turnpike Road. Airbag deployment, tows requested. Officer states a stop sign needs to be fixed. Department of Public Works requested. Road reopened with a temporary stop sign.

3:54 p.m. — Caller on Unity Street states he was on his way home from Northfield and found a dog carrier on the side of the road — believes he was on Millers Falls Road by Lake Pleasant — with eight cats inside. Reporting party brought the cats home. Animal control officer notified.

7:40 p.m. — Caller on Park Street reports he’s getting scammed or blackmailed via email. Reporting party states he received an email saying his phone had been “infected with malware” and unless he paid the sender money, they would send incriminating photos to his contacts. Caller was advised it is most likely a scam and to not engage. Reporting party has not observed any suspicious activity on his bank account or credit cards. He will contact the bank during business hours.

Monday, Jan. 19

4:28 p.m. — Caller on Lake Pleasant Road reports smelling smoke but can’t find where it’s coming from. Officer reports negative findings.
