Trinitarian Congregational Church welcomes food bank executive director as guest speaker
NORTHFIELD — The Trinitarian Congregational Church at 147 Main St. will welcome Andrew Morehouse, executive director of the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts, as guest speaker during its annual “Souper Sunday” worship service on Sunday, Feb. 8.
The service will begin at 10 a.m. and will be followed by a light lunch of soup and bread provided by members of the Mission Ministry. Donations of cash, check or canned soup to benefit the Northfield Regional Food Pantry will be accepted. All are welcome.
Two Bernardston residents make Quinnipiac dean’s list
HAMDEN, Conn. — Bernardston residents Alexander Sabin and Alana Redeker were both named to the dean’s list at Quinnipiac University for the fall semester.
To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 with no grade lower than a C. Full-time students must complete at least 14 credits in a semester, with at least 12 credits that have been graded on a letter grade basis, while part-time students must complete at least six credits during a semester to be eligible.
Puzzle swap marks five-year anniversary
NORTHFIELD — The next puzzle swap at Dickinson Memorial Library will be held on Saturday, Feb. 7, from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Plus, to mark the five-year anniversary of holding monthly puzzle swaps, the library will host a Puzzle Day Birthday Party. After picking out puzzles, attendees are invited to head upstairs to the main floor for a slice of cake.
Visitors are advised to park behind the library and come in through the side door, then turn left to find the Community Room containing the puzzles. Donations of puzzles in good condition will also be accepted.
Seven local students named to UNE dean’s list
BIDDEFORD, Maine — Seven students from northern Franklin County were named to the dean’s list at the University of New England for the fall semester.
They are: Griffin de Ruiter and Mya Shattuck, both of Bernardston; and Sean Allen, Katheryn Fuller, Elizabeth Musselman, Jason Quinn and Avery Sargent, all of Northfield.
To be named to the dean’s list, a student must have attained a grade point average of 3.3 or better out of a possible 4.0 at the end of the semester.
