New emergency notification system available ahead of winter storm

MONTAGUE — The town’s new emergency notification system is now available for residents to sign up to receive text alerts.

A notice from the town on Thursday explains that the new notification system, offered by Rave Alert, allows residents to voluntarily sign up by texting “Montague” to 77295. Residents can receive notifications about severe weather, road closures, public safety incidents and other important townwide messages.

This new system is now active just ahead of the latest winter storm making its way into the region beginning Sunday.

This system replaces the former CodeRED notification system the town moved away from in December. Any resident who was previously signed up for CodeRED alerts will need to sign up for the new system.
