‘Julius Caesar’ to be performed at Shea Theater
TURNERS FALLS — The Young Shakespeare Players-East will perform Shakespeare’s “Julius Caesar” this weekend at the Shea Theater Arts Center, 71 Avenue A.
The cast is made up of actors ages 8 to 18, with two casts each performing twice. When one cast isn’t performing, they will act as the tech crew for the other.
Performances are scheduled for Friday, Jan. 16, at 7 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 17, at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday, Jan. 18, at 1 p.m.
The performances are free, with proceeds from concession sales going toward the Young Shakespeare Players-East scholarship fund. These shows are for all ages.
Resident input requested for vulnerability planning
GILL — Residents are invited to Gill Town Hall, 325 Main Road, for a Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness Plan workshop on Tuesday, Jan. 20, starting at 5:30 p.m.
The town received a grant from the state Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) program to help identify its strengths and weaknesses during extreme weather, and to prioritize goals to help strengthen Gill against severe weather and climate change impacts. Having an MVP plan will help the town apply for grants down the line for future projects.
Refreshments will be served at the Jan. 20 workshop. Another workshop will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 11, at Gill Town Hall, also at 5:30 p.m.
Bingo night planned at Franklin Tech
MONTAGUE — A bingo night will raise money for the Tradeswomen of Tomorrow club at Franklin County Technical School on Thursday, Jan. 22, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
This is a cash-only event. Prizes are donated by local businesses, organizations and the Franklin Tech staff. Bingo card prices per game are $5 for one card, $8 for two cards and $10 for three cards. There will be a total of five games.
Learn about the Resilience Center of Franklin County in Jan. 24 program
TURNERS FALLS — The Resilience Center of Franklin County, formerly the New England Learning Center for Women in Transition (NELCWIT), will give a presentation about its services for people who have been impacted by domestic and sexual violence. The presentation will be held at Greenfield Savings Bank’s Turners Falls branch, 282 Avenue A, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24.
The presentation by Mal Petty will provide information about and tools for supporting survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Refreshments will be served.
Seminar on health care plans coming to Senior Center
ERVING — Representatives from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts will be at the Erving Senior & Community Center, 1 Care Drive, on Tuesday, Jan. 27, at 1 p.m. to explain several health insurance options.

Montague student earns dean’s list recognition
MADISON, Wis. — Montague resident Julia Walkowicz, a student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s College of Letters and Science, has earned a spot on the dean’s list for the fall 2025 semester.
To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must complete a minimum of 12 graded degree credits in that semester. Each university school or college sets its own grade point average requirements for students to be eligible to receive the distinction.
