11:54 a.m. — Staff at Jamrog HVAC Inc. on Millers Falls Road reporting that over the weekend, a vehicle was parked by the dumpster and the occupant took some scrap metal. Report taken.
Tuesday, Dec. 9
12:37 a.m. — Security alarm sounding at the Silvio O. Conte Anadromous Fish Research Laboratory on Migratory Way. Gate is closed and building appears to be secure.
12:59 a.m. — Officer out with trash all over Turners Falls Road. Officer moved most of the trash to the side of the road and requested the Department of Public Works be contacted to clean it up in the morning.
4:34 p.m. — Sick-looking fox reported in the area of James Avenue and Millers Falls Road.
Wednesday, Dec. 10
8:51 a.m. — Caller on Walnut Street believes someone tried to break into her apartment last night due to damage to her front door. Report taken.
Thursday, Dec. 11
6:39 a.m. — Caller on Depot Street reports there is a bat in her kitchen sink that isn’t moving much. Reporting party advises she is heading to work soon and she put cutting boards over the sink so the bat won’t fly elsewhere in the house. Animal control officer contacted, will reach out to the reporting party.
Friday, Dec. 12
10:39 a.m. — Reporting party on Central Street states there is a female party on the front porch of a neighboring apartment building who is smashing furniture and throwing items off the porch. Female party refused to identify herself, but she turned down the loud music and said she would go inside.
8:56 p.m. — Officer observed a vehicle strike a parked car on Fourth Street. Jakub James Downing, 24, of Fourth Street in Turners Falls, was arrested on charges of OUI-liquor over .08% (second offense), possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and unregistered motor vehicle. Bail set at $500. Bail posted.
Saturday, Dec. 13
3:40 a.m. — Alarm company reports a security alarm is sounding at the Great Falls Discovery Center on Avenue A. Building checked, appears secure.
Sunday, Dec. 14
9:19 a.m. — Reporting party at Solar Avenue and Depot Street states a lot of water is coming out of the ground, possibly from a water main break. Water Department on scene.
9:59 p.m. — Reporting party states he is a truck driver for the United States Postal Service and upon delivering packages to the Turners Falls Post Office on Avenue A, he noticed all the doors and the vault were unlocked, which is not normal. Keyholder contacted, will head to the Post Office to lock everything up.
