Greenfield, MA – It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Frederick, “Mike” Dunn, age 79, who left us peacefully on December 6, 2025, at Baystate Franklin Medical Center. Born on September 24, 1946, in Greenfield MA, the son of Frederick and Emily (Glabach) Dunn, Mike lived a life filled with laughter and adventure.
Mike went to Greenfield public schools and after graduating in 1964, he attended the Stockbridge School of Agriculture. A true handyman, Mike owned a small business repair shop for multiple years before moving on to construction which he retired from in 2014.
His hobbies included boating, learning to fly small aircraft, 4-wheeling, snowmobiling, and tinkering with small engines. He enjoyed both going out to eat and gathering friends and family for all occasions at his beloved home in Greenfield. He was the master host of the Christmas Eve party and took pride in his own version of the Yankee Swap — because the rules changed every year.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine; his children, Roxanne and her husband Don of Whately; Timothy and his wife Maggie of Chester; Kathryn Berelson of Greenfield; and Robert Jillson of Australia. Mike took immense pride in being a doting grandfather to his 17 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren who brought him great joy. He also leaves behind a host of friends and family who will miss his warmth and wisdom.
Mike’s spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
