Charlemont, MA – Diane F. (Menice) Charette, 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 6, 2025.
She was born in Taunton, MA on October 18, 1942 one of six children of Everett and Hilda (Mederios) Menice.
She was affectionately known by her family as the “coupon Queen” of Franklin County for her ability to find the best value for her money. She was always on the move and was very creative in her interests and talents. She was owner and operated the former “Sugar Daddy’s Candy and Gift Shop” in Shelburne Falls, was bookkeeper for her husband Richard’s carpeting and flooring business, she was a licensed real estate agent, she hand-made porcelain dolls, she purchased a machine that customized sweatshirts and ballcaps, and she became a truck driver after obtaining her CDL!
Diane was a devout catholic and prayed the rosary daily. Her faith was very important to her and it gave her strength.
Survivors include her sons; Ricky Charette, Jeffrey Charette, Kevin Charette, her daughters Kelly Phillips (Dana), Tracy Charette (Greg), grandchildren Ashley Sturgeon (Donald), Kimberly Garber (Matty), Aaron Herzig (Anna), Robert Boyd, Kate Taylor (Bob), Ricky Charette Jr., Christopher Charette, Diana Charette (James), Bryanna Charette, Caitlyn Charette (TJ), Annalyse Charette (CJ), Aujalynn Charette, Hunter Charette, Hayleigh Charette, Kayla Walters (Tony), 26 great grandchildren, brother Steven Menice (Myrlita), sisters Anne Marie Archer (Bob), Terry Leach Larson (Carlos), Gail Sousa (Joey), Debbie Moquin (Walter), brother-in-law Ernie Charette (Betty), and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Prayer service will be held Saturday, Dec. 13 at 11:00 am at the Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home, 40 Church St., Shelburne Falls. Burial will follow in Arms Cemetery.
