Bernardston, MA – Beverly Fay (Herron) Gale, 91, of Bernardston, died peacefully among family on November 30th, 2025, at Baystate Franklin Medical Center. She was born on September 1, 1934, the daughter of Donald and Ruth (Lawrence) Herron.
Beverly was raised on her family’s farm in the beautiful rolling hills of Leyden, MA, and later made her home in Bernardston. The memories of her childhood lived on through her stories. Beverly was a devoted mother and grandmother, raising five children and giving love and care to many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and others throughout her life. Her home was a soft place to land for many who have felt lost.
Although Beverly faced significant mobility challenges for more than half her life, she never let them define her or limit her spirit. She was a strong, capable, and kind woman who was a friend to many. Beverly enjoyed keeping her mind busy. In recent years, she found joy by working on puzzles, a reminder of her patience and determination. She will be remembered by all who knew her for her quick wit and caring personality; she had a way of lighting up any room she entered.
Beverly is lovingly remembered by her four children: Donna (Philip) Grover, Robert Gale, Susan (Dayton) Hale, and Richard Gale; her siblings, Lawrence Herron, Linda Thompson, Sidney (Debbie) Herron, and Rita (Ed) Klaus; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and family and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved son, Jeffrey Gale, her granddaughter, Allison Whittemore, and two brothers, John Herron and William Herron.
A service in celebration of Beverly’s life will be held on Saturday, December 20th, at 11 a.m., at the Leyden United Methodist Church. Following the service, a time of fellowship will be held for family and friends to share memories of Beverly’s life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her honor to the Leyden United Methodist Church, 15 West Leyden Road, Leyden, MA, a place she loved dearly.
Kidder Funeral Home, 1 Parker Ave, Northfield, MA, is assisting the family with arrangements.
