Free concert at Arms Library Dec. 4
SHELBURNE FALLS — The Arms Library will be hosting a free concert featuring Tret Fure and Charlie King from 7-9 p.m. on Dec. 4.
King is a musical storyteller and political satirist specializing in American folk music and citing the civil rights movement and Vietnam War era as his musical inspiration. Singer-songwriter Fure similarly notes political activism as an inspiration for her over 50-year career in music. In 2023, she was awarded the Phil Ochs Award for activism for social and political justice in music.
The performance will be held in the Langford room on the lower level of the library, and is funded by a grant from the Musicians Performance Trust Fund of the American Federation of Musicians.

Stuff a cruiser Dec. 6
SHELBURNE — The Shelburne Falls and Colrain Police Departments are hosting a “Stuff a Cruiser” toy drive on Dec. 6 at Apex Orchards, located at 225 Peckingville Rd. Bring new, unwrapped toys to the orchard between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to support the Giving Back Together Toy Drive.
Attendees also can enjoy music from DJ Goldilocks, food from Cliff’s Smokin’ Backyard BBQ, and the view from the Apex Orchards Farm Store.
Home for the Holidays Dinner and Auction
SHELBURNE FALLS — The Colrain Historical Society’s annual Home for the Holidays Dinner and Auction will be held on Dec. 6 at 5:30 p.m. at the Shelburne Buckland Community Center on Main Street in Shelburne Falls.
Over 250 items will be offered in both silent and live auctions, with proceeds going to support ongoing work at the Colrain Historical Society Museum. Items include wreaths, antiques and collectables, handcrafted goods from local artisans, gift baskets and gift certificates from local businesses, and Colrain ephemera.

Holiday Bazaar Dec. 13
ASHFIELD — The First Congregational Church (UCC) in Ashfield is bringing
back its Holiday Bazaar and Cookie Festival on Saturday, December 13, from
10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Attendees can peruse festively decorated cookies made by church bakers and sold by the pound, as well as crafts and plants. New this year, the holiday bazaar will include an earing tag sale, offering pairs and single earrings for those who like to mix and match.

Winter parking ban in effect
SHELBURNE FALLS — The Shelburne Police Department has announced winter parking bans have gone into effect in Shelburne and Buckland through March 31.
In Buckland, no overnight parking on any town street, roadway, or sidewalk will be allowed from midnight to 6 a.m. Overnight parking is allowed in the long lot located just off the street past the Eagles parking lot, the Eagles parking lot adjacent to the Fraternal Order of Eagles building, the Town Hall lot behind the Town Hall off William Street and the Salmon Falls lot behind the Salmon Falls Building on Ashfield Street, however parking is not allowed in these lots from 8 a.m. to noon during snow events to allow for plowing.
In Shelburne, during snow events declared by the Highway Department or Selectboard and indicated by blue flashing lights in the village, parking is banned on the streets as well as in the parking lot behind the Greenfield Savings Bank, Keystone Market and the Art Bank Building.
Parking is allowed behind Keystone Market (the second row furthest away from the building to Water Street), at Cross Street parking lot, the Arms Academy parking lot, and at the Cul-de-sac below the former Mole Hollow Candle, located off of Deerfield Ave.
Violations are subject to fines and having their vehicles towed.
